Newborn Pictures

Kamryn’s newborn pictures were taken on February 13th when she was just 8 days old!  Michelle Stricker with Stricker Photography (www.strickerphotography.net) also took these photos.  She specializes in newborns and does an amazing job!  I had a hard time picking just a couple favorites for Kamryn’s birth announcement and for this post!

I just love little baby hands and feet!

Our pictures were scheduled at 10:00.  At eight days we had no idea what our schedule was going to look like.  I set my alarm and was up by 7:00 so that I could get myself ready before the girls were up.  For some reason it doesn’t matter if I get up early or late….I seem to NEVER make it somewhere early or on time!  Kamryn of course took forever to nurse and I had to take her off early so that we could get out the door.  We left our house at 9:55.  It’s a good thing Michelle doesn’t live too far away!

I knew I should have just finished feeding her the second we arrived, but I didn’t and she stayed awake for the first 45 minutes there!  The little stinker would keep one eye open and one eye closed.  She did this same thing during her newborn pictures at the hospital!  Michelle was so patient and reassured me that she normally spends the first part waiting for them to fall asleep during a newborn shoot!

I decided after 45 minutes to feed her and sure enough, she fell asleep right after!

Michelle wants them to be naked for the entire session.  She told me that Kamryn will pee and/or poop on every prop and she was right!  At one point while I was holding her she pooped all over the blanket, floor, and a little on me.  Later on she peed all over me and the floor.  It was seriously the most pee I’ve seen come out of a little one.  It was like we’d spilled an entire glass of water on the floor!  The last time she pooped on me was while we were trying to get a couple pictures as a family.  This was when we decided to call it quits and just be DONE!  By the end of the session I had poop and pee on every article of clothing as well as all of our blankets and Michelle’s- Kamryn Elizabeth!!!

My childhood best friend Heidi (Brody) Homan made this adorable hat for Kamryn.  I had her make a girl and a boy hat for us since we didn’t know what we were having.  She finished them just in time!  We met in the parking lot of Old Navy after my 39 week appointment so I could pick them up.  I went into labor that night!  I have to say putting the little boy hat away made me sad.  It is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!  (Heidi sold her hats at the Farmer’s Market last year, and she also sells them at Barn Happy if you are interested!)

Newborn sessions can be stressful and I knew having a three year old there would make it even more stressful!  I dropped McKenna off at the Garvin’s on our way and then had a babysitter pick her up and bring her around 11:00.  This worked out great!  Kenna was there for just long enough to get some pictures with her sister and as a family.  This was enough for a three year old’s attention span!  Courtney picked up McDonald’s for her on the way home and had her down for a nap by the time we got back!

Matt took an early lunch so he could come for a few family pictures.  I also wanted to get a few photos of him holding Kamryn.  I love how they turned out!  (The picture on the bottom left is both of our hands!)

A huge thanks to Michelle for her patience and talent!  We will cherish these photos forever!
