Good Friends, Great Times!

Our friends Tom and Jamie were back in the middle of June for a quick visit before they headed to the river.  We all try to get together as much as possible during the time they are in CF!
Saturday night we started out at our place for supper.  McKenna and Jordann had a dance party while the adults sat in the living room and chatted!  We thought she would be worn out and would give Natalie an easy night of watching a sleeping baby… well, that wasn’t the case!  McKenna decided she was NOT going to go to bed.  After multiple attempts at putting her to bed (with her bawling), we decided to let her watch Georgie in our bed.  I remember looking at Matt and asking him what advice we should give Natalie.  We both were unsure of what to do suggest as this NEVERS happens!  With our ride waiting in the driveway, we quickly kissed Kenna goodbye, told Natalie to let her watch Curious George for awhile and then try laying her down again, and to call if she wasn’t having any luck.  Off to The Stuffed Olive we went!

I ended up texting Natalie around 10:15 to see how things were going.  McKenna was still up watching George… I text her again about half an hour later and she was FINALLY IN BED!!  Now it was time for mom to start enjoying her night!

After martinis we headed to Toads to meet up with Matt, Danielle, AJ, and Christy.  They had been at a wedding and were just making it out!  We ended our night at VooDoo watching DJ TBeck.  It was quite the experience!  We couldn’t believe the night was coming to an end so quickly.  As they say- time flies when you’re having fun!

night out

Sunday afternoon we had planned to head to the pool while the daddies went golfing.  The weather was rather cool with little sun so we decided to have a pool party at the Garvin’s instead!

We are finding out McKenna is a little bit of a wussy when it comes to cold water and splashing.  The crazy girl would NOT step foot in the water, nor would she get near it, unlike the rest of the crew!
The best part of the afternoon the visit of the ice cream truck!  As the first jingles of the music where heard, kids from all directions started running towards the sound!  I love the picture in the middle of the collage.  The kiddos are running down the sidewalk after the truck!  We were able to corral them and get them to sit and wait on the curb.  After a rather long wait, the ice cream truck rounded the corner right in front of Matt and Danielle’s!

While everyone enjoyed their ice cream, McKenna enjoyed yet another piece of watermelon!  She wasn’t interested in sharing mommy’s Chaco Taco.  Mommy didn’t mind though because that meant more for her!

It was a fun afternoon just hanging out with friends watching our kids play together.  Garvin was a bit tired from going out two nights in a row.  Check out the picture of him on the right side!  Love you Uncle Matt!

Sunday night was game 6 of the finals so Matt invited Nate and Tom over to watch it with him.  Alex and the kids joined us for awhile before heading home to bed!  I’m thankful the boys were here during the game because daddy took the loss pretty well!  (Not sure what it would have been like if he was watching it by himself!)

Monday was another “cooler” day for June so we decided to meet at Birdsall Park.  I guess we just couldn’t get enough of each other!  We tried having a picnic, but it wasn’t very successful with 6 kids under the age of 3!  They were too interested in playing!

I love the pictures of McKenna and Jordann because they pretty much sum up their relationship.  McKenna is always the leader trying to get Jordann to do whatever she wants her to.  Poor Jordann just goes with the flow and does whatever McKenna says!  (We’ll keep working on that one!)

Our picnic in the park quickly came to an end as Danielle got called into work, Jordann had now had three accidents and zero dry outfits left (it was day one of potty training!), and the rest of the kids starting getting pretty crabby!  We all parted ways and headed home for much needed naps!

Thanks to the Petries, Oaklands, and Garvins for another awesome weekend together.  We value your friendship and can’t wait until the next time!  (Chicago?!)
