McKenna's Baptism

Last Sunday we had McKenna baptized at Nazareth Lutheran Church here in Cedar Falls. It is the church Matt and I were married in almost four years ago! It was a beautiful sunny and special day for us. I was a bit nervous on how McKenna would do as the service started at 11:10 and she usually eats around 11. I was also worried because baptisms are after the sermon, which means about 45 minutes into the service! McKenna was a trooper and did great- with the help of big cousin Ella entertaining her for a bit! :)

McKenna wore my grandpa's baptismal gown that was made by his mom. It is now 78 years old! Danielle and I also wore it when we were baptized. McKenna also wore a swarovski crystal and pearl bracelet and necklace. My co-worker gave her the bracelet (from Bead Happy) when she was born. It's a bracelet that you are supposed to wear when you are baptized and also when you get married (it has one blue crystal bead). My mom and I decided to make her a necklace to match her bracelet. One day after school a couple weeks ago the three of us headed over to Bead Happy. McKenna sat in her car seat and watched while my mom and I made her necklace and ate some yummy chocolate! :)

We tried to get in a few pictures before church just in case McKenna fell asleep. We ended up being a bit rushed so we didn't get too many good ones! :)

Matt and Danielle are her godparents!

McKenna has been really drooly lately so we try to keep her paci in to "catch" the drool! It also keeps her quiet during church! When we went up front I popped her paci out and drool instantly started down her dress! She also made a few squawks! :) Overall I would have to stay she was a rock star!

We let Ella come up to join us. She was a good girl too!

"Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit." John 3:5
(McKenna's hair actually stayed down for a bit after he poured the water on her head!)

Go and let your light shine McKenna Rene'!

Proud parents!

Kenna has had enough pictures for one day!

I love this picture- "I'm done with pictures!" (Notice the drool!)

After church we headed out to my parent's house for lunch and dessert. McKenna fell asleep on the way there. We hung out with our family for a bit before having to head into town for two graduation parties as well as Ella's birthday party! We didn't get home for the day until 8:30. What a long but very fun day!

The pictures below are of McKenna just in the slip of the dress!

Getting ready to take off her bow!

Through baptism our sins are forgiven and we are promised eternal life in God's Kingdom. This is the most amazing gift we will ever be given. With the help of God, Matt and I will raise McKenna in a loving Christian home, teaching her to pray and encouraging her in her walk with the Lord. We thank God everyday for his precious gift to us, McKenna Rene'!
