The Library

McKenna and I enjoyed going to the library on a multiple occasions this summer.  We liked being able to go to story time!  McKenna would normally start out on my lap, then move to the pillow she picked to sit on, and then she would move to the chest.  The chest is used as storage for the pillows when they are not in use, so it is usually empty during the story.  As soon as McKenna would head that way I knew I had to let her go otherwise she’d throw a fit.  Who wants to be the mom at story time with a screaming child?!! : )  Unfortunately other kids would watch her and then want to join in as well.  Looks like McKenna is going to be a leader!!

I only brought my camera the first time so these are the only pictures I have from our visits.  The girls spent most of their time at the puppets!

Each week we would pick out five “new ones” as McKenna would call it.  I ended up having to pick them out for her because she would be more interested in playing in the kitchen and with the puzzles, both which are right next to the toddler section.

McKenna must have liked the library so much that she chose to poop every time we went!  It never failed that the kitchen was her pooping place.  One time I didn’t bring my purse in so I had to change her in the backseat of my HOT car.  Oh the joys of being a mommy!!

I’m amazed at how much McKenna enjoys her library books.  I think it’s because we keep them in her special bag that she made.  She still tells me, “I made that!”

McKenna’s love for reading puts a smile on my face (part of the teacher in me!).  I love that she can spend hours (okay minutes) looking at books.  She’s recently started reading to us.  I think it is incredible that children are able to remember specific parts so accurately.  This is something McKenna’s done for awhile with a few of her books, but now it’s with every book we read to her!
