Last Thursday my mom, McKenna, and I headed back to Harlan for Melissa's bridal shower (my cousin Erik's fiancee). We had another fun and relaxing couple days. Here are some of the events from our stay:
*lots of card playing
*an amazing massage at the salon my aunt works at
*shopping the square in Harlan (cute little gift shops)
*Schwans pizzas (on more than one occasion)
*corn on the cob
*tomatoes from the garden
*swimming in the Petersen's pool
*hitting a cat on the way back to my grandparents... :( I hate cats, but I still felt REALLY bad!
*forgetting a bra (other than the sports bra I had on) and having to wear my grandma's :)
*celebrating Gpa's 79th birthday
*walking around the farm reminiscing :)

McKenna helping us sing to Grandpa Pete!

Grandpa gave her her first taste of cake!

After supper we went with Uncle Jeff and Uncle Brian to watch them load the horses. McKenna wasn't quite sure what to think at first.

Aunt Cyndi sharing her love for horses with McKenna!

This barn brings back a funny memory from high school. Kerry, Kim, Danielle, and I went to look around the farm after we arrived at my grandparents. I was so excited to show them around. Our plan was to go in the loft and "play" on the hay bales. As we were climbing the ladder four horses started running at us!! I had NO IDEA they were in the area we were! I am not afraid of horses, but when you have four running at you, I was SCARED TO DEATH!!!! I would have loved to have been a person watching us from a distance! All four of us were as far up on the ladder as we could go- hanging onto each other for dear life! The door to the barn was closed and we couldn't swing it open unless we went further down on the ladder. All I can remember is Kerry screaming and eventually peeing her pants (sorry KJ!), a horse licking someone's leg, and myself trying to calm everyone down telling them we were going to be okay! In the end Kerry and Danielle we able to sneak away after the horses decided to go somewhere else. They ran as if they were running a 100 yard dash in the Olympics, quickly ducked under the electric fence and eventually made their way back to my grandparent's to get someone to "help" Kim and me escape!! :)

This is the view right outside my grandparent's front door.

Another as the sun was setting...

And another...
My cousin Matthew absolutely LOVES McKenna. He had so much fun playing with her. I even let him feed her- he thought this was pretty cool!

Cousin Julia

I LOVE this picture of the two of them!

The shower for Melissa was on Saturday at the church. It was right at McKenna's nap time. She was a trooper and slept in the Sunday School room in a Pack-n-Play! Some of the guests had never met McKenna so they were pretty excited to see her! I wasn't able to get any pictures of her there since she slept most of the time so we took the picture below when we got home!

Oh, the good ol' days! I will never forget how freaked out I was when the horses were "cornering" us! And then you made me feed one!
