The last two weeks!

Here is a recap of the last two weeks of our very busy new life! McKenna Rene' Lindgren was born October 20th at 8:46 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20 1/4 inches long. I've started a post about the day of her arrival but haven't completed it yet. I will post as soon as it's done!

Just a quick thanks to all of our family and friends for the gifts, meals, cards, and visits. We are so blessed!

Thursday 10/22:
We got home from the hospital about 5:30 in the evening. Matt and Danielle brought Ella over to meet her new cousin! They had been watching Lexi for us, so this was Lexi's first official meeting as well!

Friday 10/23 (Our due date):
Grandma Goetz spent the night with us our first night home. I was still moving pretty slow at this point and it helped having a personal maid at my service!
We ended up having everyone over for pizza that night to celebrate my dad's birthday- just a couple days late!

Saturday 10/24:
McKenna meets her new best friend Alaina. The girls are 10 weeks apart! :)

Our first outing was to Convenient Care on Saturday to check to see if McKenna was jaundice. My mom, sister, and I all thought she looked a bit yellow. McKenna started out ruddy (sp?)- which means she was on the redder side to start with, so we had a hard time telling if she was getting worse. The doctor ended up sending us to Sartori to get her blood drawn. The results showed that her numbers were very high- 17.2 (at 20 babies are hospitalized). Home Health Care ended up coming over later that night to hook us up with the Biliblanket. We were lucky enough to only have this ANNOYING thing for two days!

Sunday 10/25:
Our second outing was to my parent's house for the day. Grandpa and Grandma Petersen and Grandma Goetz came from Harlan to visit Miss McKenna. We took some four generation pictures! I was able to get in a much needed 2 1/2 hour nap- McKenna had had a very rough night!

Monday 10/26:
My grandparents came over to help out for the day. Grandma Lile made her famous chocolate chip cookies with pink M&Ms so that I could take them to school for the teachers. She also helped me glue pink bows onto little pumpkins for my students. Grandma Julie and Grandma Lile took turns ironing 17, yes 17, shirts!! (Both Matt's shirts!) Grandpa was in charge of vacuuming and playing with the dog. I love this picture of the two of them after a hard day of work!

Tuesday 10/27: A big day of firsts on her one week birthday!
McKenna went on her first stroller ride to Aunt Danielle's house. We decided to take Lexi with us- she was so excited to be outside my mom could barely hold onto her! About half way to Danielle's McKenna started screaming and we couldn't get her to calm down. When we got to Danielle's we realized what the problem was- she had a blow out! Mommy learned a good lesson- take the diaper bag with you wherever you go, even if it is 3 minutes away! Grandma had to walk back home to get diapers and a new outfit!

McKenna's first time in her crib! Mommy wanted a picture at exactly 8:26 pm-
her one week birthday!

McKenna's first bath! She started out very calm and by the end she was pretty much screaming! (It didn't help that it was time for her to be fed!)

Wednesday 10/28:
McKenna meets another best friend Violet! They are 3 1/2 weeks apart!

Thursday 10/29: Pumpkin carving night!
My parents came into town to join us (Garvins/Lindgrens) for supper. We then carved pumpkins and enjoyed yummy apple crisp! We took about 50 pictures- the Matts were getting very angry with us because we wanted to keep trying for that perfect shot.

Friday 10/30: First sleepover at Grandpa and Grandma Goetz's!
McKenna and I decided to spend the night at my parent's house Thursday night after pumpkin carving. My mom didn't have school on Friday and was planning to help out for the day so we thought it would be fun for us to stay out there. This gave daddy a night of uninterrupted sleep! On Friday McKenna went on her first shopping trip to Waverly- although she stayed in the car the whole time! We went to Bundle of Joy- a really cute baby store and Hallmark. My mom and I took turns sitting in the car with baby. We would hold things up in the window and talk on our cell phones! I ended up buying some accessories for her newborn pictures and a cute Iowa Hawkeye shirt for next summer!

Saturday 10/31: Happy Halloween!
McKenna had her newborn pictures taken at our house on Saturday. She started out the session as a perfect angel! The second half of the session didn't go so well... We couldn't get her to stay asleep! Isn't it normally the other way around with a newborn- you can't get them to open their eyes?!!! As soon as the photographer left McKenna fell asleep and stayed asleep for almost the entire night! Figures!
Matt ended up passing out candy while I walked to a few houses with Matt, Danielle, Ella, and the neighbors. Everyone was excited to see McKenna! Kami, her mom, and Alaina stopped by to take a quick picture of the girls on their first Halloween. Daddy ended the night by going to a few Halloween parties with his friend Tom. Tom and his wife Jamie had their second baby on the 27th. We are excited to meet McKenna's future boyfriend!

Our photographer sent us this "sneak peek" picture! We can't wait to see the rest!!

Sunday 11/1:
McKenna enjoying the weather as we worked in the yard! Grandpa and Grandma Goetz and Uncle Matt and Aunt Danielle helped us out!

Monday 11/2:
Aunt Danielle trying to calm McKenna back to sleep. The little missy has decided she likes to be crabby for parts of the day. The key word here is DAY- she has been a wonderful sleeper at night and we are VERY thankful for that! :)

It's hard to believe my baby girl is 2 weeks old already. I'm even more amazed that it took me 2 weeks to post about her! I can't make any promises but I'm hoping it won't be another 2 weeks before I post again!
