Last year Danielle and I decided we wanted to try out a new pumpkin patch in the area. After talking around this fall it sounded like Bloomsbury Farm in Adkins was the place to go!
With Adkins being almost an hour away we were unable to go during the week so that left one day, Saturday, October 29th! We were excited when that day worked for our neighbors the Habincks too!
We were a bit worried that it would be really cold, since we nearing the end of October. The weekend before was in the 60s, so we didn’t think we would get lucky enough to have another Saturday of perfect fall weather. Well, we were wrong! We started the morning with coats and hats on the kids, and about a half hour in they were shedding their layers! I’m not sure it made it into the 60s, but it was for sure in the 50s. The sun was out and made it feel even warmer!
I was absolutely amazed at all there was to offer! It was a little over $10 a person, and I can say we definitely got our monies worth! We arrived at Bloomsbury a little before 10:00 and we left after 1:00. We probably could have stayed even longer, but McKenna was in need of a nap and daddy wanted to get home so he could watch the Hawks!
We started at Barnyard Buddies. They had the neatest thing built for their goats to walk on! Shannon watched two goats fight- the one bucked the other one off the platform and it fell to the ground! She said it laid there for a minute and then it got up- phew!
The kids were able to feed the animals thanks to Shannon’s stash of quarters! I was surprised that Kenna wanted to feed them. She held her hand flat while the donkey ate right out of it!
The John Deere wooden tractor was next. We had to get a picture of her driving it for Great Grandpa Pete! McKenna really enjoyed going down the slide that was attached to the trailer on the tractor!
On to the large tube slide. I wish I had taken a picture of the whole thing. They had to walk up 10-15 stairs to reach the top before sliding down. It kind of reminded me of a waterslide!
The first time down Kenna came out a bit sideways!
Uncle Matt walked McKenna and Lily up for round two!
So much fun for everyone!!
The Habinck kids- Olivia (7th), Ethan (6th), Isaac (2nd), Audrey (1st)
The Garvin kids- Ella (Kindergarten), and Lily (7 months)
The Lindgren kid- McKenna (2 yrs.)
Another reason to love my camera!
I was excited for the Corn Box. This was about the only thing I wanted to make sure we did. McKenna loves to play in sandboxes, so I thought she would really enjoy the corn box!
It was funny watching her try to walk as her feet sunk into the corn! McKenna wasn’t quite sure what to think of it. She kept crawling in and out of the box. She couldn’t make up her mind if she wanted to play or not!
The big kids had a blast. They took turns burying each other. Ella and Audrey even buried their heads!
I took some quick family pictures of the Habincks before we did the corn maze. Even though we LOVED having the sun out, it made picture taking a bit tricky!! There was no way to block the sun…
I love that their family is made up of 3 boys and 3 girls, not to mention they are perfect “stair steps”! I would love to end up like them someday! (I know what you are thinking- get on with the show already!)
Daddy and Uncle Matt entertained Kenna in the Spider’s Web while mommy took pictures. She LOVED being bounced around!
Our turn for a few pictures! My camera was on the wrong setting when Shannon took our pictures so they were SUPER light… bummer!
The Habincks headed to the Corn Maze while we headed to the Kid’s Maze. Ella lead the way! Uncle Matt picked a piece of corn for McKenna. The second she got it she put it right in her mouth!!
While waiting for the Habincks we got a few pictures of the Garvins and the girls. Aren’t they some of the cutest pumpkins around?!
We paid another visit to Barnyard Buddies. This time Lily got to pet a goat! Kenna was so interested in watching them. We’re thinking maybe Grandpa should get one to keep out at his “farm”!
The Barrel Train was next on our list of things to do. We went ahead and did it without Gene, Shannon, and the kids. We had been waiting for them to finish the maze and we were starting to think they got lost!! ;)
Lily Bean started on Matt’s lap but after a little video her mommy decided it was too dusty for the 7 month old! Matt decided he would just go along for the ride, in probably the smallest barrel to start with. Poor Kenna was in a bigger one and could barely reach the steering wheel!
Afterwards Ella raced over to the Pedal Carts. Kenna was determined to ride too! The neatest thing about this place is that they have activities for kids of all ages. Kenna was able to ride (with the help from daddy) in the little kid track, while Ella was able to ride on a different track for bigger kids!
We met back up with the rest of our group at the Tire Maze. Another fun place to play around!
At a little before noon we headed over to get a seat for the Pig Races! Sweet Isaac held Kenna’s hand and walked with her. He is always so cute with her! I don’t know many 2nd grade boys who take the time to play with a 2 year old! I took the pictures on the left at the beginning of the morning. Future boyfriend?! :)
Each pig had a famous name such as Shaquille O’Squeal and Lindsay LoHam. The owner of the farm also had some funny pig jokes, well at least I laughed out loud!! The races were pretty entertaining for the 30 seconds it took from start to finish!
After the races we took a Hayrack Ride (without hay bales- boo hoo) out to the pumpkin patch to pick our very own pumpkin!! With it being the end of the season, there were still many pumpkins left in the patch. I would have loved to see what the full patch looked like!
One of the perks of going at the end of October was that each paid admission got a free pumpkin! What a fun surprise!
The second we got off the trailer the kids ran in all directions looking for their favorite pumpkin to take home. The first one Kenna “claimed” was a bit lopsided and had a mushy hole on the bottom. Mommy quickly distracted her and got her back on her hunt for a new one!
McKenna picked a perfect pumpkin- shape, size, and color! She tried so hard to carry it back to the wagon just like the other kids, but it was just too heavy!
We chose to get a wheelbarrow to cart the pumpkins back to the car. Of course both Ella and Kenna had to help!
Before heading home we stopped in the Sugar Shack for a caramel apple and fudge. There were so many kinds to choose from- Snickers was our choice!
We also grabbed a hot dog for Kenna at the Pumpkin Grill. We didn’t think she would stay awake long enough in the car to make it to McDonald’s!
The last picture of the day- How Tall This Fall? McKenna was so far done by the time I tried to get this picture. I didn’t even try for another one! It looks like we’ll have to come back again next year!!
What a FUN, FUN day at the pumpkin patch! We look forward to coming back next year and enjoying even more of what they have to offer!
