A fun weekend!

Last weekend my grandparents came to visit us. They haven't seen McKenna since November!! (We weren't able to go to Harlan for Christmas and then they winter in Texas!) McKenna, Lexi, and I spent the weekend at my parents because Matt was in Spencer at a basketball tournament.

We had an amazing weekend of relaxing. My parents live only 7 or so miles out of town but for some reason it feels like we are on vacation when we are there. It is so peaceful out in the country. I could sit outside on their swing on the back patio for DAYS! Life has been very busy at home and at school so it was nice to have a weekend of just hanging out and having fun!

McKenna has now mastered sitting up!

Sunday afternoon was absolutely gorgeous outside! Before the girls' nap, they spent a little time on the playground swinging. Ella loves pushing McKenna. She wants to give her an underdog...I said maybe next year! :)

Ella now knows how to "pump" all by herself!!

While the girls napped we all played cards on the patio. I ended up getting a little sun! (This body is VERY white, so I knew it wouldn't take much to get red!)

McKenna's first experience with sand! She loved grabbing handfuls of it and then letting it go over her feet. She had a lot of sand stuck in her sweaty toes!

Her first ride down the little slide!

Getting ready to go down her first ride on the big slide!

McKenna had peas for the first time Sunday night! We decided to make our own although we found out we didn't get them mushed up enough for her liking! :) The first few bites went great... before we knew it McKenna was making a LOUD gagging noise, trying to get the yucky peas out of her mouth!! We would give her a bite and she would just let it sit on her tongue- she wouldn't swallow! Lesson learned: mash them up even more than you think you need to... the runnier the better!

McKenna ended up going through four wardrobe changes-
#1 blow out
#2 wet back from the swing
#3 sandy and dirty
#4 peas
Good thing we have one million outfits to choose from!

Thanks Great Grandpa and Grandma for coming to visit us. We are so blessed you have you as grandparents. We had an amazing weekend with you! Can't wait to see you in two weeks!
