6 Months Old

“Who said I’m already 6 months old?!”

This is a new face for this little lady and it makes me crack up each and every time she does it!!

I had a hard time choosing pictures to post this month because each one was an expression that I didn’t want to forget!

At SIX MONTHS you weigh 16 lbs. and 8 oz.- 56% (16 lbs. and 9 oz. at our home scale) and 26 inches long- 52%.  At the end of the month we moved you into size 3 diapers Huggies, but kept you in size 2 Target.  You are in a range of sizes from 3-6 months to 6 months.

 

At SIX MONTHS you’re back in your crib!   We FINALLY have a working monitor (it only took three) and I feel like it’s time you better get in your big girl bed!  It was a bit emotional putting the pack-n-play away FOR GOOD this time!  You don’t like going down on your own anymore.  We have to hold you in order for you to fall asleep.  You especially like when daddy holds you in his chair while watching t.v.  We’re hoping this phase ends VERY soon, as Shannon isn’t going to have time at daycare to rock you to sleep each nap!  Your bedtime varies, but is usually in the 9:00 hour.  We have to get up a couple times a night to put your paci back in.  Luckily you go right back down.  Your wakeup time also varies- anywhere from 5:30-7.  If you are up early daddy tries to get you back down so that mommy doesn’t have to feed you quite yet!  You have been going back down after your morning feed and sleeping 3 more hours!  These are the times I wish you were an only child.  Then mommy could go back to sleep until 9:00! :)

At SIX MONTHS you eat 5-6 times a day, depending on how early you wake up in the morning.  No longer can I nurse you on one side and expect to burp or change you in between.  You want to nurse on the other side immediately after you are done with the first!  It is very rare if you spit up these days.  You were never much of a spitter upper :) but would occasionally if you didn’t burp afterwards.  Nowadays you can guarantee a burp right after you’re done, yay!

At SIX MONTHS you had your first Urgent Care visit.  While at Big Woods Lake, you got something in your eye but we didn’t know it.  You woke up from a nap screaming.  You cried for over an hour.  It was a cry that we’ve never really heard before.  I decided to feed you even though it wasn’t time yet and that didn’t seem to help.  We realized that you weren’t opening your eyes and when you did you would cry even harder.  We finally got one of your eyes open and noticed it was VERY red and irritated.  After calling the pharmacist, we decided just to take you in.  (She suggested it.)  The doctor wasn’t able to determine exactly what had happened but did give us some medicine to help clear it up.  It was tricky getting the drops in your eyes (we decided to treat both) but within a day it looked so much better!

A SIX MONTHS you got your first bad diaper rash!  We were at Okoboji when it started.  You were drooling again and not quite yourself, so we wondered if it was because you were teething… nope!  You still don’t have any teeth!  It took a few days, but with the help of the Hiney Healer, your diaper rash was cleared up!

At SIX MONTHS you are getting to be such a big girl!  You’ve started going in the stroller without your car seat and you love being able to see out!  You pull yourself forward on the little food tray and play with the toys dangling from it.  It’s been very humid and hot lately, so we’ve haven’t been able to enjoy our walks!  It’s also been cold at night (in the 50’s).  We’ve had such crazy weather this summer!  You’ve started being able to get your paci in (and out) your mouth and you’ve started eating cereal!!  You look so little sitting in your high chair!

At SIX MONTHS you can roll to get wherever you want to get.  You can also push up while on your tummy!  We aren’t going to let you begin to think about crawling!  You can spin in the exersaucer and you’ve just started to sit up (for short periods).  This month we put away the playmat and tummy time mat and got out the Jumperoo!  You like standing in it and have started to get the hang of jumping! 

At SIX MONTHS you have the sweetest personality.  You are a happy camper and smile all the time!  You’re hilarious new “o” face makes everyone around you laugh!  You’ve started to jabber with “da-da-da-da” being your first real sound!  You also have a grunting noise that is actually pretty annoying!  At first we thought you did it when you were trying to poop but now we think you do it when you get bored or frustrated!  You also know what you want.  Now you like to face out when being held so you can see what is going on!  You absolutely do not like to be held horizontal! 

More from this month:

The Manfull’s had a party at their place July 5th.  Grandpa and Grandma offered to watch our kids so that we could go!   This was their first time having all four!  It worked out perfect, as we were able to run down and feed the babies before they went to bed!  The Garvin’s ended up spending the night and we loaded up our kids and took them home afterwards!

You are a happy baby!

We laugh at this position you are in.  You will be laying on your tummy and then will all of a sudden to into your “flying” position!  You are VERY flexible and kind of flimsy! 

You are starting to turn yourself around and get whatever you want. 

All of Kenna’s friends that come over want to play with you too!  It’s a good thing your sister enjoys it as well.  There will come a day that she isn’t going want to want you anywhere near her and her friends!

You LOVE Lexi!  You will roll to get to where she is laying.  She looks annoyed in this picture, but I think she actually likes getting some attention from someone around here!

You started saying “Da-da-da-da!”  Daddy was the first to hear it and he was so proud!

You can get your paci in your mouth with the help of your paci clip!!

Your first taste of cereal!

You weren’t quite sure what to think.  I wouldn’t say you loved it, but I wouldn’t say you hated it either!

It sure was messy!

6 months have come and gone, just like that!  It’s hard to believe in 6 short months we will be celebrating your 1st birthday!  We love you Kamryn Boo!
