At FIVE MONTHS you weigh about 15 1/2 lbs. You are still in size 2 diapers. I started buying Target diapers and have really liked them! We put you in Huggies at night just to try to avoid leaking. This had been working great, but the last few nights you’ve started leaking again. (Maybe because you are sleeping for much longer stretches now!) You are in a range of sizes, from 3 months, 3-6 months, to 6 months. I was able to get through the 6 month tub and pull out everything that you might wear. Boy do we have a lot of clothes!
At FIVE MONTHS you’re getting the hang of sleeping for long periods at night! You are sleeping 8-10 hours each night which has been amazing (still in our room!)!! Sometimes we have to put your paci in a time or two, but you stay asleep! While you sleep you flip from your tummy to your back and back to your tummy all night long!! You continue to be a cat napper during the day. This can be frustrating at times. We have been out and about a lot this summer so that may play into your inconsistent nap schedules. You always seem to be happy though, so I guess for now we won’t worry about it! When we try to get you to sleep you now prefer to lay over our shoulder, rather than horizontally. You still have to have your little and big blankets up by your face in order to fall asleep!
At FIVE MONTHS you eat 5 times a day and occasionally once in the early morning (4:00-5:00). Lately you’ve been going 11 hours between feedings, yay!! If you wake up early to nurse 8 out of 10 times you go back to sleep for another nice stretch. Mommy is home for the summer so you’ve mainly been breastfed with a few bottles hear or there when I’m gone!
At FIVE MONTHS you still are obsessed with your toes! You have to be holding them at any chance you can get. You even hold onto them at every diaper change. This makes it tricky trying to get your diaper on the right way! You prefer to have your toes bare, probably because you love to suck on them!!
A FIVE MONTHS your hair has finally grown back in the back! It’s continued to get “fuller” and it’s not standing up like your sister’s… yet! Speaking of hair- you like to pull hair!!! Mommy’s is your favorite to pull but you will get ahold of any that comes near you. :) It’s hard to get your little fingers unwrapped to get the wad of hair you pulled out out of your palm!
At FIVE MONTHS you have some funny new things that you always do! You have this spitting thing that you like to do with your mouth. It’s hard to explain but it’s really silly! You also rub your feet together all the time. I’m wondering if it’s because you don’t ever have anything on your toes now that it’s summer! Lately you have been making your ankles red and a little raw because you have been rubbing them together so much!
At FIVE MONTHS you are getting more interested in playing by the day! You’re starting to outgrow the playmat since you roll off of it almost the second we put you on it! You will flip over to your tummy and reach for toys to play with. The Bumbo also has its days numbered. You try so hard to get out of the thing it makes us kind of nervous having you in it anymore!! You absolutely love the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It!” As soon as we start singing this song you get so happy! You like it when we clap your hands together, stomp your feet, and put your arm up to shout- hooray!
At FIVE MONTHS you are just so much fun! Mommy is so incredibly grateful that she has the summer off to spend with you and your sister. It melts my heart to watch McKenna try to make you laugh. You have the sweetest little giggles ever! You have taken a lot more interested into your sister, as well as our dog Lexi. You face lights up the second one of them enters the room!
More from this month:
You try to put EVERYTHING into your mouth!
You especially LOVE to suck on your little piggies!
You are such a big girl now! You last on your back for about 30 seconds and then you flip to your tummy!
We’re starting to find you like this when waking up in the morning or after naptime!
Now that you are rolling over you seem to get caught up in everything!
A family at school made this adorable onesie for you. It has your name on it with the M being a pink M & M. (I have a M & M theme in my classroom.) It was the perfect gift from on of my students!
You can pretty much grab anything around you by rolling to get it. If we leave the wipes out after a diaper change you will almost always get it. The first place it goes is in your mouth!
I was excited to put you in this outfit, as it is one of Kenna’s from Gma Jeanie!
We can’t trust you anymore!! Within minutes I found you stuck under the bouncy seat. When I left you you were on the blanket!
You love to sit in the Bumbo and watch your sister play with her toys. Here Kenna decided to read a book to you- so sweet!
A little tummy time with your cousin Jett! You always have to grab him. I love that you are holding his hand. :)
We got out the exersaucer this month!! You are learning how to bat at the toys. So far we have to turn you around, as you aren’t able to twist around yourself yet!
Your two favorites so far are Mr. Penguin and Mr. Yellow Bird!
I can’t even believe you are starting your 6th month of life! I need time to slow down IMMEDIATELY!
