Saturday Fun

Saturday was a busy day from the minute we woke up to the minute we went to bed!
After trying Kenna’s UNI cheerleading outfit on we realized she could use the next size up.  It was given to us as a baby shower gift almost two years ago!  Luckily UniversiTEES in the mall still carried the same style and had a 3T!  McKenna and I ran to the mall to exchange it quick before heading to the CFU Energy Fair.  UniversiTEES was packed.  I'm sure everyone was there getting game day gear!  As we were waiting in line (forever) I kept telling McKenna, "We are going to go see Grandpa soon."  As we walked back through the mall she started yelling, "Grandpa!  Where are you?!"

I was amazed at the crowd as we pulled up to CFU!  There were golf carts everywhere hauling people back and forth to the site and their cars.   (There were so many people they had to park in the far south lot!)  We were able to find a spot in the main parking lot, yay!

We were on a mission to find Grandpa Dan since we were running a bit behind schedule.  I thought we would easily find him (his gray hair!) but there were too many people in too many locations.  We went ahead and found the kid activities.  The Smiley Ride was waiting for passengers so I put McKenna in.  It was definitely a “mom” moment as I watched her ride away with all the kids!   I couldn’t believe my little girl was now big enough to do big kid things!  I kind of wanted to yell (while waving), “Kenna!!  Mommy’s over here!!”  Grandpa  found us in just enough time to catch the tail end of Kenna’s ride.

We enjoyed a few more activities- duck pond, tattoos, and bouncy house before meeting back up with Grandpa for lunch.

Since I was just by myself I wasn’t able to get a picture of McKenna with the blue CFU guy.  She kept calling him Cookie Monster!!  Ha!  I was really proud of her that she didn’t completely freak out like she did with Santa and the Easter Bunny!  She didn’t cry but boy did she hold on tight! :)

By the time we got home it was just before noon.  I had planned to put her down for an early nap… oops!  When she got up we headed up to UNI to tailgate a bit before the game.
It was UNI’s first home game as well as family weekend, so people were tailgating everywhere!  I had to drive on a sidewalk as well as jump a curb to get a parking place in the grass- I was nervous!

McKenna had fun “playing” bags with Trey.  I’m not sure how many times I asked her to stop laying/standing on the board.  One time I told her Doug was going to spank her bottom! :)

I love the picture of Trey and Kenna- future athlete and cheerleader.  Okay, maybe future athletes!

Tailgating is much more fun when you are with your friends!  We even got to see Grandpa and Grandma Lindgren, Uncle Jerm, and Kenna’s daycare friend, Hunter!

When Jani got up from her nap (yes, she actually took a nap in their car!) we gave her an early birthday gift.  We thought it was necessary that she get use of her Panther tattoos!

The girlies had so much fun together.  Every now and then they would want the same thing, but for the most part they played great!

I love the picture (on the top) where Kenna is once again laying on the board while Jani has a bag behind her head ready to throw it.  If only we knew what was going on in their little minds at the time!

This year we decided not to get season tickets since we were unsure how McKenna would do at the games.  Four quarters is a LONG time for an almost two year old to be entertained!

Matt got tickets at work for the game.  We actually had really good seats, just 5 rows up from the field.  Being so close to the action was key in keeping Kenna’s attention.  She absolutely LOVED watching the Panthers.  She clapped when everyone clapped and on a couple occasions threw her arms up and said, “Go Panthers!” without being prompted to do so!  It was super cute!

A few times when the players would be on our side of the field she would get a bit scared and ask me to hold her.  She wasn’t sure what to think of the tackling!

At halftime we headed back outside to meet up with some friends we were unable to connect with before the game.  We ended up not returning to the game since it was a blowout.  This was the boy’s decision, not the girl’s!

We then headed to Matt and Danielle’s with the group for pizza.  Our original plan was to get babysitters so we could kick off our return to game night but we pretty much were all too lazy to find sitters!

Around 8:30 we decided to put in a movie to see if the girls would settle down.  You could definitely see whose kid watches the most t.v.!  After only a few short minutes the girls were up, down, around, and up, down, and around again!  They were giggling, trying to play peek-a-boo with their blankets, and Alaina was trying to take out their pacis!  Our plan to calm them down was pretty much just winding them right up!

Somehow we did manage to get in a round and a half of True Colors.  We also figured out when our game night Christmas party is going to be.  Santa is going to be making an appearance and it’s not going to be Doug!  HaHa!

Check out McKenna in the middle two pictures.  I'm sure in the second one she is thinking, "Would you quiet it down please?!  I'm trying to watch teddy bears (aka Berenstain Bears)!"

At 10:30 we figured we better call it a night!  We had tired mommies and daddies and three not so tired 2 year olds!
