Christmas morning was exactly what I had hoped it would be with a two year old, well except the part that it wasn’t a white Christmas!
McKenna slept in until close to 8:00. (This alone is a gift in my book!) Her first present was waiting for her next to her crib. The year Kenna was born someone shared with me a tradition they do with their kids. They have a new book waiting at each child’s bedside Christmas morning. I thought it was a cute idea and decided to start the tradition when she was only two months old!
Kenna crawled into our bed and opened up her new book, Snowmen at Night. Daddy read it to her and then we snuggled all together for awhile before getting up to check to see if Santa came!
As she came down the stairs you could see the excitement on her face. A new table full of presents was waiting for her! She quickly ran to the table and grabbed a gift off it while I was taking down the stockings. She was a bit confused as to why we had to open stockings first!
(Don’t worry- the rock candy was for mommy, not Kenna!)
She would run from the table of presents back to sit next to daddy while she opened them. She was really excited about each gift. Santa did a great job picking presents out for her!
In her stocking she got M&Ms, a collapsible brush, Curious George ornament, and jingle bells on a stick!
He also brought a new table and chairs, Curious George floor puzzle, Christmas book, Elf’s Story DVD, Cabbage Patch named Mackena Christina, and ABC Little People blocks! After opening each gift she would ask Matt to get it out so she could play!
Even Lexi has a stocking! Santa brought new tennis balls, a gingerbread squeaky toy, and a biscuit! Kenna helped open the biscuit so she could give it to her!
After playing for a little bit we tried to get McKenna to come upstairs so we could open more presents. She wanted to stay downstairs and play! We reassured her she’d have plenty of time to play with all her new toys!
It was fun watching her open presents on her own this year. Every now and then she asked daddy to help her. : )
Lexi got Matt’s gift (a water bottle) and started rolling it around trying to open it. We couldn’t believe she took off with it. She never messes with anything anymore (knock on wood)!
Daddy got a new sweatshirt (aka new uniform) and a new water bottle. Mommy got new jeans, a shirt, and a scarf! Kenna got new socks, M & M dinner plates, books, Discovery Toys Bingo Game, and a washing machine for her doll clothes!
McKenna was in such a great mood all morning. She was a super happy girl which made picture taking much easier!
After playing for a little while it was time to get ready to go to Grandpa and Grandma Lindgren’s so we could open more presents!
