Baby Update

Ella loves giving my belly a hug or kiss every time she sees me. She is determined the baby is a girl. She actually gets mad if you ever say "he" when you refer to the baby. After leaving church on Sunday we told her that only God knows what the baby is. Her response was, "Guys, God told me it is going to be a girl!" Her tone of voice made this comment even funnier. I guess we'll have to wait to see if Ella has special powers!

Yesterday I had my 38 week appointment. Dr. Hines measured my belly at 35 weeks, which was kind of weird because I have measured right on every appointment. (I measured 37 weeks just one week ago.) At first she was a bit concerned with me measuring small and only gaining one pound in two weeks. (She was thinking about doing an ultrasound to make sure everything looked okay.) After checking me she found the reason for the small measurement- the baby had dropped a TON!! She said, "WOW, the baby has dropped a lot and the head is right here!" She had a hard time checking to see how far I was dilated due to the head being so low. This was VERY painful for me and also very shocking to me! I was at a 0 last week and not effaced at all. Now, seven days later I am dilated 1-2 cm. and 50% effaced! Before I left she told me to get everything ready because it could be anytime now. You would think most people would be happy to hear this news, well not this girl- I CRIED! I have a lot to wrap up at school before this baby decides to meet us, not to mention my family will be gone this weekend in Chicago for Danielle's run. I need this little one to stay put until Monday, then he/she can come whenever!

We are welcoming prayers for this baby to wait another week :) and also for Danielle for her marathon this weekend! I couldn't be more proud of her and all the hard work it's taken for her training. We will be cheering for you back home Scoots! :)
