At NINE MONTHS you are 18 lbs. (18 lbs. 2. oz at the doctor on 11/15) and 28 inches long (57%). You wear 9 month, 12 month, and 6-12 month clothes, and are in size 3 diapers!
At NINE MONTHS you’re still a terrible sleeper! By now you would think that you would be sleeping through the night EVERY night!! I think it’s hard on us because we aren’t expecting to be awake in the middle of the night. When you were a baby we knew we’d be up with you. Now that you are 9 months old, it’s frustrating because you’ll sleep through the night for a couple nights and then you’ll have some really bad nights. We’ll lay you in your bed and that you’ll wake up shortly after. We’ll rock you back to sleep, put you in your bed, and you’ll be up again. This is not a fun game that we are hoping to break really soon! We had a few really bad nights in a row, so Grandma Tami offered to take McKenna overnight so that we could give you the chance to cry it out. This really helped not having to worry about having her wake up also!! The good news is you are finally starting to get on a schedule for eating and sleeping! It gets off a bit when you have bad nights, but for the most part you wake up in the 6:00 hour, nurse around 7:00, take your morning nap around 9:00/10:00 (1 hour), bottle around 11:00, nap around 1:30 (1.5 hours), bottle around 3:00, nurse around supper, and then nurse before bed around 8:30. Your naps are getting shorter and shorter by the day. You’ve seriously taken 15 or 20 minute naps, even after a terrible night of sleep. Your early evening nap is starting to phase out. We are trying to figure out if you sleep better or worse at night when you take the late nap before supper. We pray every night that your sleeping schedules get better ASAP because you are starting to wear your parents down!!
At NINE MONTHS you eat 5 times a day. You take two 6-6.5 oz. bottles at daycare while mommy is at work. Shannon still feeds you cereal in the morning and then gives you baby food at lunch. We also feed you baby food at suppertime. Now that you are eating more table foods, your poop has turned into turds!! You are really starting to get distracted while nursing. We normally have to go to a room by ourselves in order for you to stay focused and finish eating! I’m planning to end your supper feeding very soon, as it’s getting too hard to feed you at that time and then turn around and feed you again before bed.
At NINE MONTHS you are moving everywhere! We have to “block” you now with the ottoman so that you will stay in the living room! Now that you are on the move you like to get into your sister’s toys. This is not something she is happy about!! You’ve mastered being able to go from laying to sitting. You are trying so hard to pull yourself up. It won’t be long! You’ve also learned to clap and you like to wave!
At NINE MONTHS you finally have two teeth on the bottom popping through!!! Grandma Tami noticed your first tooth popping through at Kenna’s 4 birthday party on October 28th. Just six days later, mommy spotted your second bottom tooth!
At NINE MONTHS you are becoming more vocal! You’ve added two words to your vocabulary- momma and bobba. You do a little motor boat with your mouth and you think you are super funny! You have a high pitched scream too!
At NINE MONTHS you are really starting to play with your toys. You like to dump out anything and everything. We wonder if you got this trait from your cousin Lily! You’ve started to take interest into books. You mainly like to find the soft cover books so that you can bend them! You already have an obsession with our phones and the remotes. It’s amazing how early kids figure these things out! You will sometimes still sit in the exersaucer, but it’s not going to be long before we have to put it away. I’m not sure how I’m going to get ready in the mornings!!
At NINE MONTHS your hair is started to get thicker and it is really starting to stand up! We are anxious to see if it’s going to be like your sister’s! With you being my second child, you don’t “get” to wear a bow as often as your sister did! I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be able to do headbands since your hair is starting to get longer and hang off the sides of the band! For not wearing one very often, you do a pretty good job of leaving it alone!
More from this month:
Nothing cuter than a baby wrapped up in a towel after her bath!
One reason I hate the slats of a crib!
We celebrated Grandpa Dan’s 57th birthday!
We went to Iowa City for McKenna’s birthday and Cousin Chelsy and Jordan met us for lunch!
We passed the ring on to Jett and are now borrowing this seat from Grandma Tami’s house. You still love bath time!
We had everyone over for supper for McKenna’s 4th birthday!
You weren’t too sure what to think of Uncle Jerm! Maybe it was his hat?!
One of your favorite things to do is dump out all of the Halloween books from the pumpkin bowl. For some reason, the Dora book is the only one you decide to “read” (or bend!). This is seriously the only book you will play with once they are all out of the bowl!
The group in their Halloween attire:
Lily 2.5 years, Jett 6 months, Ella 7 years, Kamryn 9 months, and McKenna 4 years
Your hair is starting to stand up! Oh no!!
Our family on McKenna’s party day.
Grandpa Pete and Grandma Lile made the drive for McKenna’s party!
Baby’s 1st Halloween!
Cousins in the leaves. This was your first time playing in the leaves. You actually didn’t mind them!
A last minute trip to Heartland Farms in Evansdale! The weather cooperated so we were able to check this off our to-do list!
Carving pumpkins the night before Halloween. Better late than never, right?!
We had plans to put you in the pumpkin, but you were too big!
Our little unicorn!
Grandpa Dan etched each grandchild’s name into a pumpkin as they were growing in his garden! Super cool!
You recently started making the scrunchie nose face like Kenna used to do. I was trying to get a picture of it to send to Uncle Robby. That was one of his favorite things that big sissy used to do!
(Look closely and you can see your bottom two teeth starting to poke through!)
Happy 9 month birthday sweet baby girl!
