My baby is 8 months old!
At EIGHT MONTHS you are almost 18 lbs., wear mostly 9 month clothes, and are in size 3 diapers! The weather has been SUPER hot (over 100), so school has been let out early multiple days. It’s been fun being able to pick McKenna up from school and then be able to get you after you nap and have a few more hours to play with you two! We’ve had to squeeze you into some of your 6 month outfits since most of your 9 month clothes are long sleeves and pants!
At EIGHT MONTHS you’re still an inconsistent sleeper at bedtime. Some nights we (mainly daddy- although mommy is still awake!) get up 1-3 times with you, sometimes for hours at a time. It’s REALLY frustrating because you are normally up happy, wanting to party. I don’t want to feed to you start that habit, but have caved a couple times. We’ve also been taking you out of your room almost immediately after you wake up because we don’t want you to wake up Kenna. (Have I mentioned yet how much I HATE that you have to share rooms?!) This is not ideal because we would like to have you cry it out or at least try to fall back to sleep on your own. You’ve been back to the chiropractor, but I really don’t think it’s helping! I actually think it’s making it worse, as you have had terrible nights for the next 2-3 nights after each appointment! You still aren’t on a schedule for naps (or eating) because your nights are all so different which makes your wake up time different as well. You still have an am nap, afternoon nap (2-3 hours), and an early evening nap, with bedtime being around 8:30-8:45. In the middle of the month we started putting Kenna on the floor in our room because you two had both been waking each other up. This has helped a ton! We can now leave you in your crib for awhile in the morning. This is nice since you aren’t going back down right away in the mornings anymore.
At EIGHT MONTHS you eat 5 times a day (6 on the few days I’ve fed you in the middle of the night). You take two 6-6.5 oz. bottles at Shannon’s while mommy is at work. We’ve continued introducing you to new foods: corn, pears, squash, carrots, as well as a few pouch combinations. Corn was the first food that you couldn’t get enough of, with carrots being the second! We started giving you small chunks of banana, pear, and kiwi now that you are MUCH better at putting Puffs/Cheerios into your mouth. You absolutely love to feed yourself! Lexi likes cleaning up your highchair when you are done because there are a lot of pieces that miss your mouth! Shannon still feeds you cereal in the morning and then gives you baby food at lunch. We introduce new foods at suppertime. Shannon has offered to make baby food at her house so that I don’t have to make it and send each day- so amazing! We tried juice again in the sippy cup, but you couldn’t really get the hang of it. You just wanted to chew on it. I took out the plug and then you started sucking! It ended up being very messy and sticky! We’ll keep practicing!
At EIGHT MONTHS you’ve started to creep! You’ve been falling into the crawling position for some time now but now you are moving to get things you want that are close by! So long are the days when I can sit you with a pile of toys and leave the room. Time to fully baby proof our house!
At EIGHT MONTHS you are still toothless! Kenna got her first tooth at 8 months, so we’re anxious to see if you will be getting one anytime soon! You have started to drool again (see the drool marks on the monthly sticker) but not all that much. That’s about the only sign of teething so far!
At EIGHT MONTHS daycare is going MUCH better than last month- thank goodness! I drop you and McKenna off around 8:00 on my way to work and then pick you two up around 4:30 each day. McKenna goes to preschool Monday/Wednesday/Friday afternoons, so some days you are the only one! Landon Steen (17 months) started coming to Shannon’s one or two days a week this month. We’re friends with his parents and suggested Shannon when they were looking for part-time daycare! Lily and Jett also go to Shannon’s but it’s normally just a day or two a week!
At EIGHT MONTHS you are turning into a little kid rather than a baby! You’ve learned how to wave, you like to play “Pat-A-Cake”, you giggle at things that are funny, and you are fully aware when mommy or daddy isn’t around. You will still play in the exersaucer but it’s normally only in the morning when mommy is trying to get ready for work! You last in the Jumperoo for only a couple minutes. You would rather be playing with your toys or trying to get things you shouldn’t have! This month you peed on the floor while daddy was looking for the wipes! Haha!
More from this month:
You are liking to eat more and more each day! You usually have a messy face and messy hair by the time we’re done!
Trying on cowgirl clothes (borrowed from a student of mine!) for Western day at preschool! I also took a picture of your rash. I first noticed a couple spots on your legs while at dance. As the night went on they got worse. I went to CVS but the pharmacist said to let it run its course. By bedtime it was a lot better but in the morning it had moved to your arms, back, and in your diaper… We put Aveeno lotion on it, sent you to daycare, and told Shannon to call if it got worse. Luckily it was almost gone by the time I picked you up! We still aren’t sure if you are allergic to something or if you just have REALLLY sensitive skin (just like your sister)!
We love this highchair toy Grandma Tami bought for you at Easter!
I’m so anxious to see what your personality is going to be like. You will sit in your highchair making funny faces and noises until someone looks at you. Then you continue, making us all laugh!
Eyeing the puff… grabbing the puff… and getting it INTO your mouth!! Go Kamryn!
This little teething banana comes in handy when waiting to be fed. It also helps distract you so you don’t try to take the spoon away from us!
You LOVE the food feeder! You’ve had watermelon, cantaloupe, and peaches.
Matching outfits- oh how I love! : ) Kenna is wearing Ella’s old dress and you have on Kenna’s. These dresses were worn for our family pictures back in 2010!
You have started getting better at picking up food and being able to feed yourself!
Bananas
Pears (off Grandpa and Grandma Goetz’s neighbor’s tree!)
Kiwi
Had to get a picture of you wearing this outfit of Kenna’s because it was one of my favorites!
And here’s McKenna (almost 7 months) wearing it on Mother’s Day 2010. Look at her hair!!!
You are starting to move to get what you want!
Who knew that a kitchen floor could be so much fun? You continued to slap the floor and laugh at yourself for the longest time! I was excited to sneak you in this 6 month dress one more time before the weather got too cold!
The last day of September and in a dress! We are soaking up every warm day we can!
I can’t believe in 4 short months we will be celebrating your first birthday!! Please slow down!
