24 weeks:
Things continue to go well with this pregnancy! I’m measuring right on at 24 cm. I feel as though I’m bigger with this baby, but according to McKenna’s baby book, I’m measuring smaller and have gained less weight!
The weather has been incredible for October. A dress at the end of October, amazing!
Daddy is always in charge of taking our monthly picture. Kenna insisted that he be in a picture too!
My 24 week appointment was at 4:00 on a Wednesday, and Danielle’s 12 week appointment was at 9:00 that morning!!! We are so excited the word is finely out! A healthy baby due May 5th!!
26 weeks:
My mom used her creativity to announce at work that she was was going to be a grandma again by painting these pumpkins from her garden!
“We are adding two new little pumpkins to our patch!”
We are just so excited to be big sisters!!

28 weeks:
I had took the morning off so that I could see Dr. Hines (the doctor that delivered McKenna) for my 28 week appointment. She is only in the office in the mornings and I knew I was going to have to take the glucose test. It was also Thanksgiving week, so I couldn’t be picky with when my appointment was. Well let’s just say it’s a good thing I had the morning off. My appointment took 3 hours!!!
As soon as I walked through the doors the receptionist gave me “the drink” so that they could start the clock. After one hour I would have to have my blood drawn. At this point in pregnancy, my appointments consist of peeing in a cup :), getting weighed, listening to the heartbeat, getting measured, and then I’m out the door! I knew it would be a quick appointment so I brought my laptop so I could blog (ha) while I waited to have my blood drawn. I secretively was hoping I could make time for a quick trip to Old Navy and/or TJMaxx before having to head back to work. My plans of blogging and shopping went down the drain when the nurse was listening to the heartbeat.
Nurse Brandy thought it sounded irregular, but wasn’t sure if it was the doppler she was using so she went to get a new one. A few minutes later she came back and tried again- same thing. After she pointed it out I could also clearly hear the skipped beat. It would be strong and then skip, strong and then skip and so on. Okay- this was something I hadn’t had before and of course my mind starting running wild. Not to much longer later Dr. Hines came in and we went ahead with the normal procedures of my appointment. After explaining I had been having a lot of pressure down there she decided she would like to check me. Now my anxiety was starting to sky-rocket! My baby might have heart problems and I might be starting to go into labor at 28 weeks! AHHHH!!!
I calmed down a bit after she said I had not started to progress at all! Yay! She also mentioned how happy she was at how well I had healed from McKenna’s delivery. This was definitely something I wanted to hear because she had originally been worried McKenna may only be our only child. Not news you want to hear when your first born is only three weeks old!
In the mean time we had to have a nurse come in and draw my blood for the glucose test because I had now missed my appointment downstairs. She couldn’t believe how terrible my veins were (I hear this EVERY time!) and was worried she may have to have some assistance- really?! She luckily was able to get it done on the first try. Thank you!
At the end of my appointment Dr. Hines listened to the heartbeat. I hated that she waited until the end because I was very curious to what she was going to have to say about it. She decided to have me get hooked up onto the monitors for awhile so they could have a print out of the pattern. Her original plan was to have me hooked up for 10 minutes. 45 minutes later they finally let me get off!! She reviewed it along with two other nurses and they were amazed at how well it looked for a 28 week old. She explained that babies don’t usually have such a strong pattern until 32 weeks or so. This confused me as I didn’t understand how it could look so amazing if it was skipping a beat!! All three ladies reassured me that this can actually be normal and that things can change by the next appointment. A lot of times people will get sent to Iowa City and by the time they get there, there are no problems. Dr. Hines offered for me to come back the next week to listen again if I wanted to, but she felt comfortable waiting until my next appointment in two weeks. Knowing there isn’t anything we can do now if there is a problem, I decided just to wait until my 30 week appointment to check it again!
Three hours later I was out the door. I ran through McDonalds to grab lunch and walked through the doors as my students were walking down the hall from recess. I had just barely made it in time! Phew!
29 weeks:
Thanksgiving/Christmas with the Goetz side
Krista- 29 weeks and Danielle- 17 weeks
30 weeks: Matt joined me to this appointment since we both were nervous about what we would find out. We were relieved to find out that baby’s heartbeat was NORMAL!!! Praise God!!!
32 weeks:
Baby’s heartbeat sounded normal again! Yay!!
I had to take pictures together in our matching outfits because I was getting ready to pass the pants onto Danielle. Unfortunately you can’t read the sticker on Kenna’s shirt!
As I worked on my belly book for this pregnancy (I was WAYYYYYYY behind) over break I couldn’t help but get McKenna’s out to compare each month. For three appointments in a row (24/28/30) I gained the exact amount with both, and have yet to surpass my weight gain with McKenna. For three appointments in a row (28/30/32) I measured the exact same. At my 28 week appointment for both pregnancies the baby had the lowest heart rate that it’s had so far. I’m not sure what this means- is it another girl or will we be surprised with a boy?!
